I'v used Nu Finish car polish and a soft media (corn cob if you can find it). It polishes cartridge brass as well as points and other silver. Some of the rock gravel media can scratch the surface, so I have gone with the softer choice. 2 capfuls of the car polish, and 4 hours on medium.

I use aquarium gravel (fill a little less than half the barrel) and add only water. I usually tumble around 2 hours and do Pennies separate from Nickels, Dimes, and Quarters.
Rinse, dry, repeat as needed ! This usually cleans them good enough to take back to the bank and have them run the coins thru their machine.
