1800 half cent? how to clean?

Short backstory, my family property has been a farm since the early 1800s and for the past few years I thought it was strange because I never found any coins from before the 1960's, although I recently did find a bullet ball button, but today I think that may have changed! I think I have found a half cent minted from 1800-1808. the coin is really toasted with no hint of a date and you can barely make out the bust. I believe its from that time period due to the "drape" you can see around her shoulders. if anybody can confirm my hypothesis that would be great! also, is there anyway to clean this up without losing the detail? or a way to get more detail out of it?

Tough call on that one. Sometimes when you mess around with a really crusty coin more detail comes off than comes up. Lots of people with lots of cures, but I might just dry soft toothbrush any dirt off and leave it as is.
Ya won't find nuthin' if ya don't hunt

I think gunsil is right. Sometimes the coins are just too corroded to clean them much.

There is little doubt as to what it is...cool find. I just don't know what the best way to clean it would be...nor if you should even attempt it.
