Good morning everyone, I finally got around to building an electrolysis rig. I found an old 5 watt power supply to a USB hub, cut the end off, and attached some alligator clips that I bought at Walmart. My initial observations are that electrolysis isn’t a miracle cure. If a coin is pitted, electrolysis can actually make things worse. I also learned how to quickly destroy the anode clip... I guess that you’re not supposed to submerge that one, lol!
Electrolysis does seem to work wonders on coins that aren’t structurally damaged. Check out these pictures;
These coins were black before I “cooked” them!
It seems like the same rules of coin cleaning apply to electrolysis; you need to decide for yourself as to whether or not it’s a good idea!
