restoring a date on silver coins

I've done this on Buffalo nickels. How can I do the same on silver dimes or quarters?

Has anyone figured out a way to do this? I have a standing liberty quarter that I know is type 1 and has no mint mark but cant tell if it's 1916 or 1917

nic-a-date is ferric chloride and lifts dates on nickels. There is also a product available in coin shops that lifts the dates on silver coins. They are great for satisfying your curiousity but those coins have no premium value after you have lifted the dates. The silver lifter leaves a large black blotch on the coin where you put it. exanimo, siegfried schlagrule
