how do i clean a minie ball

i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on how to get the crusted dirt off of a minie ball without damaging the white patina.thank you for your help.jeff

Hi,I use banking soda mixed with warm water and a old soft bristled tooth brush to clean it after it soaks. Let it soak for a few hours and the dirt usually comes right off with a couple of passes with the old tooth brush. Some people just use water and tooth brush.
