    Restoring A P1853 Musket

While the pattern 1853 rifle was used by both Confederate and Union soldiers during our American Civil War, it was mostly used by the Confederates.

This particular P1853 never saw action in our Civil War. It came from the Nepal purchase of original weapons that were in storage for over 130 years over there.

These were military weapons and were used as such by the Nepalese.

When the model became obsolete they were coated in animal fat and stored.
