Is this worth anything?

I found this watch while metal detecting, in a hole with a lot of things in it (mostly bottles and old cans) from what I can tell from the bottles, and the 3 wheat pennies I found down there, that stuff is from the 40's. This watch is an Alpha watch, and I scratched the side of it and it looks like gold. But I'm not sure if gold would corrode like that, it was however surrounded by bleach bottles, and soda bottles and things of the such, so maybe that made it corrode? It's pretty heavy, and the "gold" part I scratched clean left a gold streak on the bottom of a ceramic cup. What kind of metal is this? Is it worth anything, or is it rare? I honestly don't know anything about watches, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
