There are metal detector & treasure hunting clubs in Concord, Keene, and Marlborough, New Hampshire. The Professional Treasure Hunters Historical Society, a small club was organized by George Streeter in the early 90s. The PTHHS now has 300+ members and is located at 307 Main St., Marlborough, NH. Most members live a distance from Marlborough, NH and joined to provide support for the worthwhile events & charity fund raisers we sponsor and to receive the Treasure Hunters Gazette newspaper.
In 1994, we hosted our first Best O' North East (BONE) Treasure Hunter's Weekend. In April of 2008 we hosted the 15th BONE Treasure Hunters Weekend. BONE #16 is April 16 -19, 2009. BONE is 3 to 4 days of Natural & Prize metal detector hunts, a Christmas supper, a get together "all you can eat Roast Pork Supper, a Saturday hobby show with businesses including a display for Western & Eastern Treasures magazine, many clubs & individual booths relating to the treasure hunting hobbies. Also a best finds contest and a gold panning contest. 4 to 6 workshops and seminars and a Charity Chinese Auction. Saturday night is the awards banquet with door prizes. Sunday is our 11:am 16th Grand National Metal Detector Hunt (tokens & old coins buried). At conclusion of hunt there will be a DRAWING for a treasure chest with $500.+ in prizes.
Note: Since 1994 BONE events raised $25,000+ for St. Judes Children's Research Hospital and in 2009, BONE will donate to the American Red Cross.
