1800's adirondack estate group hunt

I've been wanting to get a group hunt together to see what we can find at a location of an 1800's estate. I went up there by myself and didn't realize how overwhelming it was for one person.

It has a little known state campground on the property, no fee, that can be used to make it a weekend hunt.

Just putting the feelers out there for some interest.

When is a good time for you?

This weekend I may be free for a day, next weekend I have military obligations.

If you want to do this weekend give me a day and I'll run it past my wife and get back to you

Ok a little background info and hopefully it doesn't change your minds, I probably should have put this in the opening statement. It was the cosmetics mogul Richard hudnuts estate built in the 1800's. A Hollywood star married his daughter there at one time and the estate was sold to the Nypd pal in the 1930's an used as the summer camp there. Nys burnt the estate down in the 1970's for some unknown reason.

So what is there is foundations staircases and some open fields. It has some elevation drop as well as a marshy field and a washed out dam.

the area marked oregon is the target area, all buildings on map are no longer there but foundations remain

bring something for some bushwacking as some areas are dense growth and if i can remember right there is an orchard at the base of the large stairs

Blue Mountain Lake, NY - Join Nan Clarkson for a presentation about the rise and demise of Foxlair - a story about a grand Adirondack estate and the family that built it.

Richard Hudnut, entrepreneur and New York City businessman, often visited the Adirondacks with his family. In 1890, he discovered the Oregon valley in the Town of Johnsburg in Warren County, and by the turn of the century had quietly purchased 1,200 acres of land there. Hudnut transformed the valley into Foxlair, a lavish Adirondack estate. Like other great houses of the Adirondacks, Foxlair was a "camp" but it made no attempt to graft luxury onto rusticity, instead it was furnished like a French chateau. In 1922, Rudoph Valentino spent his honeymoon at Foxlair. Winifred Hudnut, Richard's step-daughter, who went by the name Natasha Rambova, eloped with the movie star setting off a scandal as Valentino was technically still married to a previous wife.
