Gettysburg area visit
Hello PA,
Myself and four Marines are heading up to Gettysburg on Friday 25th May for the Memorial Day weekend. Other than visiting the battlefield, we would like to swing the coils for a short while. Anyone in the surrounding area who would like to share an area for a few hours? We would greatly appreciate it. We are returning to Camp Lejeune, NC on Monday so we have Saturday or Sunday. Again, only for a few hours. It is not our intention to rid an area of its relics. We just want to have a chance to pick up a relic or two.
Thanks in advance.

I live about 40 minutes away, but get to the area very infrequently. If you were hoping to detect an area that was involved with the Gettysburg campaign, it is very unlikely you will find a place to do so. The Military Park is off limits to detecting. Private property owners are constantly being asked to detect their properties, so you probably won't get anywhere there either. Maybe someone who actually lives in Gettysburg can better direct you.

Papa Bear,
Stop in and talk with Don Hinks at Gettysburg Electronics, approximatly one block west of center of town. He deals in detectors, been doing it for 40 years or more. He may be able to steer you in a good direction. He has lots of relics on display also.
