    Smile Newbie in Southwest VA

Hi All: Finally bought a MD and anxious to start this new hobby. I live in the Castlewood VA area. Lot of history around here. Anyone close by or any clubs close by? Like to find a local bud to hunt with and share the hobby.

Digging in the dirt & scooping in the water!
I didn't realize there were so many SW VA members here.

I work in Narrows, VA (on the VA/WVA border North of Blacksburg). I have a home near Fairystone State park, went to Bassett High School.

I have a metal detecting permit from Roanoke Parks & Recreation, but haven't gone there yet - you can do it by e-mail. I understand Danville requires a permit as well - e-mailed them but no response.

Haven't been out as much as I've wanted to this season - so much continuing rain. I think I've used my new E-Trac about 30 hours this season - need more time with it!

    There's a club in Roanoke, so I've heard, but I haven't joined.

I'm out here! I do have a couple hunting buddies - but they seldom hunt
