I brought my camera to work so I can take some pix of my CRH finds.
It is my video camera that takes great closeups.
A Canon Optura 30.

1st is the Buffalo Nickels that I found.

2nd is the 1917 I found the otherday. Most of the date is gone but you can still see the 17.

Next is the "A" coin.

Next is the 1914s penny. I cleaned the heck out of to try to get a good pix, but it is even more faint now. I tried to get the best angle but its by no means great.

Just incase you think its a 40's coin, here look at the distance between the 9 and the 4 in 1944.

Great pics TF, but I do think that 14-S is an alteration. The first clue was the size of the S, it's more akin to the 1942-1955 years. Second, and this is the clincher, is the VDB under Lincoln's shoulder, which is only found on pennies minted after 1918.

Love those buffalos! If you buy Nic-A-Date you can restore those missing dates.

Dang, well if the VDB is in the wrong place than its fake. I didn't even know that. I thought it was weird that the 19 was very visible ands the rest was almost gone. >:(

Thanks, I will let the person with the post that keeps track of finds know to take it off the list. >:(

Crazy sweet camera with that kind of zoom! Amazing!

And grats on the nice, old coins. Beat up quite a bit but still beautiful in my eyes!

Hope you keep finding them!

Nice shots......my camera won't zoom in with that detail...on another note, speaking of fakes, I found a 1917 WL in a roll one time, very discolored, and didn't just seem "right", the mint mark on the back was "P"; the coins minted in Philly had No mint mark....someone didn't do their homework very well

Yea, I have no idea what a "bar nickel" is either.

Though... with the other stuff I have learned on this site I can guess what it means.

People mentioned the some coins would be colored or stamped and used as tokens at that specific bar/store, to either get into a special part of it or to use a machine, etc.

So a "bar nickel" might be like a nickel... pfff I have no idea =)

Some 1960 D nickels have a line across the top of the 0 in the date. This was caused by a die chip. People horded those in the early 60's, thinking they were rare errors. They aren’t really worth anything over 5 cents but they are neat if you like nickel varieties. There is one on eBay for $5 now.

Huh... very interesting.

Thanks a lot.

As a person who goes through nickels, it is nice to pick up these little tid bits here and there.
