No, they are not. Only the halves were 40% silver from 1965 - 1970. The quarters and dimes went to 0% in 1965, so you need 1964 or older.

Hope that helps. :-)

Yes, this helps :) . I wasn't sure. needed the help from experts. I have some halves that my mother has picked up at a bank awhile ago, need to locate them to see what they are.

Just to give you the reason why halves are 40% from 65-70. Was because the government did not want to short change the beloved president who had tragically just died a year earlier. They then decided to reduce the amount of silver from 90% to 40% but allow the kennedy half it's rightful reign of being a silver half. I am sure glad they did because a lot of people think silver was out of U.S coins after 64. Most of the silver we all find are these 40%ers. Keep an eye out for canadian money as well because I think all of their 10, 25 and 50 cent pieces were silver up until 1968 not 64. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

1968 is correct on Canadian coins. :-)

Some 1968 Canadian coins are .500 Silver. The best way to tell since they weigh the same is with a magnet. The non-silver coins will stick to the magnet.
