It is twice as bad for me. I CRH and do garage sales. Both have about the same hours on saturday.

Garage sales are about 7AM - noon and banks are open about 8 - 1 PM

Now to do anything right I can't do both very well on the same saturday. Quantity is what counts. If I don't hit at least 12 of either I can not purchase enough to make it worth while.

So lately I have been only going to garage sales on saturday. On the average I get more ounces of silver that way but I do tend to pay a bit more per ounce. But about every 6 weeks I make a special trip to _______ I have a bank there that always saves halves and big dollars for me. I will be going there this weekend. Hit garage sales on the way, make my pickup (this week: (1 bag)dimes,(1 bag)quarters,+(all) halves and BIG $$) then hit sales on the way home.

On 3 day weekends: Friday = banks, saturday = garage sales, sunday = metal detecting

garage sales and metal detecting does produce GOLD :icon_pirat:

I'm sure some will say they use their lunch hours, but every bank I go to here in Vegas has like 15 people in line. If I bank-hopped (now that gas is cheaper) I'd be lucky to hit two banks in an hour. Thank god for the casinos!

If I'm not mistaken you are in my area "Aubrun Hills"

TCF is open 7 days a week and is open till 7 pm daily 4 on Sat. and 3 on Sun. This is a great dump source as they have coin counters in the lobby and there is no fee with an account.

There are at least 4 branches in the Auburn Hills area. I think you can open a checking account with TCF for $25 and recieve a $50 gift card.

Chase banks are open till 6 pm most days in this area. if all your doing is ordering boxes . pick up by 6 dump the next evening.

I believe you are just searching Dimes based on your recent posts. It takes me a little under 1 hr to crack and edge search a box of dimes and I can do a box of halves in less than 20 minuts now. so if u pick up on your way home u wont have time to dump. Unless you can get to TCF before 6:30

I have been working OT lateley and cut it real close, if i pick up 2 boxes of halves on my way home from work before 5 Mon - Thur (most banks) and 6 on Fri (almost all banks) I need to get to TCF by 6:30 to run them through the coin counter to cash for tomorrow's pick up. makes for a very busy day.....

It works for me. but I dont make too many road trips since the OT kicked in.

Most of my pickups (with the exception of road trips or out of town stops) are repeat stops at the same banks every week on my way to work.

Dumping just fits in over lunch or whenever I get time and have at least 2 bags worth to dump (or 1 bag if its over $500 worth).

I consider 1 bag = $100 in pennies, $400 in nickels, $1000 in dimes, quarters, or halves. so sometimes a mix of denominations.

Since I mainly use self-serve machines and my hours are not the busy times I don't have a lot of lines to deal with. Maybe a total of 20 minutes per week unless I have to make a specific trip just dump coin on a Saturday or something.
