3,599 wheaties so far. And it sounds like a lot but it is only $35.99 worth, so not as much as I think. But, I'll take it! And more to come in 2009. :-)

Actually, it is a word file, so it is saved. I copied and pasted it from a site that had all the dates, and all I had to do is insert my numbers found. :-)

I update it when I throw my coins into my "keeper wheat rolls" and then save it anew. Works great. :-)

Hi, that is one impressive collection. Are they all found CRH? If not which ones are, and how many pennies searched to get to that total. Keep up the great work.

Happy Hunting,
Jason

That's about 750,000 pennies searched. ALmost all from CRH. Some I had earlier, but nothing special.

I'm doing less now, but hope to get back to what I was doing, which was 10 boxes per week. The Ryedale machine makes it so much easier to search pennies. :-)

jeal-ous. Man, that's a wad of wheaties. At the risk of making someone who doesn't like hearin answers to questions he already knows the answers to, angry ( ahh, who cares, we've got another year until the fat guy comes back around) what is a ryedale machine? The majority of my wasted time searching through pennies (besides not finding any) is spent rerolling them. I took some to a coinstar machine, but when you find such a small percentage of keepers, that service fee just isn't worth it.
What is your method? I'm thinking about ordering my first box, because I'mway happy with searching for wheaties and s mints, rather than digging for silver. Just don't have the money to go through hella half dollars right now.
Sorry if my post doesn't make sense. dang 90s are catching up with me. :coffee2:

A Ryedale machine is a machine that seperates copper form zinc. It runs over a hundred pennies a minute, and does a great job. There are videos of it on YOuTube, and I think a link to their site even on Treasurenet, on the side of the page. It misses pennies older than 1942 at times, and indian heads, so as it is spitting out the rejects I normally keep my eyes on that tray. I see old looking ones and check them, so I don't lose any old wheats. And I seem to catch them all. Then, when I am done, I take the copper side and search for my wheats out of that pile. It is now a much smaller pile to search. PLus I keep ALL the coppers. A while back (This past summer) it was easy to sell $50 worth of copper pennies on ebay for $120. Now it doesn't work, but the price WILL come back. So I"m keeping them. It's not as profitable as searching for silver, but still it is easy to do, I can do a lot of them, and my success is much higher. I get about 17% copper versus zinc. Many people get over 20%. And when I search the copper side, I get about 7 wheats per box. Others get low double digits. So, keeping the copper (If you want) and also the wheats, plus an IH or two here and ther, is not bad for a hobby. :-)

Two other things. First, the S mints. I don't keep them seperate from teh other coppers. The late 60s and early 70s the S mint marks are too common. I find hundreds a week, so I don't see them having much value. I ignore them. Secondly rerollling. Oh my, if I had ot reroll all these I would probably stop doing it. That is too much work. I take them to a bank that has a coin coutner. It takes the counter literally less than 1 minute to do the remians of 2 boxes of pennies (Which is like $40). I can count $120 in 4 minutes, with dumping them all in. It is so easy it is worth it. If you can't find a bank, use Coinstar, but get the certificates. And it will still limit how much you want to dump, because you can't get so many certs that you can never use them. But shoot, we are all always buying at these places anyway, so start saving some certs for starbucks, Lowe's, or your favorite stores. Then when you buy there you use those instead of cash, and it saves you the terrible 9% fee from coinstar. Look for banks with counters though, a that is MUCH better.

Good luck. :-)
