Well the 2008 redbook lists the 1970D in MS63 at $18.00. So any less then 3 90%er's a guy would be losing out!

Remember if it is found CRHing a MS grade is most unlikely, specially a MS63 grade... Also RED book Pricing is using $18 spot for silver.
Just a thought.

True, but they are SO hard to find if you crh'd it, so I would hold it; it cost 50 cents, nope, not sellin...

But if someone offered you 5 90%ers would you take it? or better yet what would you sell it for?

65gt, I would have think about an offer of $100. You see, that 70d has a special place in my heart. Like selling a pet! Some will probably never understand....like my wife for instance.... AMC

Interesting post,......some time ago I offered a member here to trade my '70-D almost unc., for 3 90% Ken's, spot was about $17, got a big laugh from them, explaining how a 3 to 1 trade wasn't fair, I tried to explain about the "worth" of the '70 Ken, not only for the metal value, more so because of the scarcity, ball-park for the '70 was(is) $15-$20,....... never did get through..

Re: How much is a 1970-D worth to a CRH'er

I understand completely about a coin holding a special place in the collection. In fact I still have my first 55 Franklin that I found CRH even though I have found others in better condition. So the question to you is what would you trade to get a 1970-D? Since you already have one you might only want it if you can get it for another 40%.

The book I have shows the 70d issued in mint sets only. Book value 20.00 ms63 40%. If you find one of these that is in MS grade then it is definately a keeper! far more valuable than a 64 90%er. But if you find one of these and it's been in use then it would dramacticly loses some value. A few scratches and blemishes will make a differance of a 20.00 coin to a 5.00 coin. Plus since it has been removed from the mint set and a novice collector buys one thinking he or she got a good deal in reality they don't. Experienced collectors may shy away from a single mint coin that been taken out of the set and not buy it even though the book may show such and such book value.

I have been trading my extras for '64. At least it helps others fill their books, if they ain't still in mint plastic my coin guy don't even want them. HH Mark BTW mine are all spoken for- now to find some more.
