Hello, got $185 in dimes $60 in nickels (wish I had enough to them them all). The dimes gave me 3 silvers (50, 64, 64d). Nickels were uneventful, until I hit the mother load. 10 rolls almost solid pre-60! It took 2 hours to sort all the dates. I got lots of 38's, but not the 30 d I needed. Then I got a 39 d and s, my seconds of each  . I got bunches of 48 and 49 s, semi-key. I got 3 1950's, but no d for my album. However, I got my first 55, then another 1 for my album! I just need those last 2.

I also got 2 1940 large S, and a 1954 S over D...just like the one in the pic

On the war nickel front, I got 93. Some rolls were solid with them.

I did get halfs, 4 out of 5 dollars 40%'s, no large dollars, and I will get every cent next time i'm in.

Congrats on the nickel hoard of the year so far. This'll defeintely be hard to top.

Confused about the 1940 Large S. Do you mean 1941?

Yep, 1941

might I ask why everyone says to keep all nickels from 60 and earlier?? I see keeping some of the years, the rare ones.. but I don't see why you would want to keep all of them. Most of them aren't worth much. I cashed all of the ones I didn't want back in to the bank. but I kept all the rare dates, and dates I didn't have for my collection.

This question pops up every now and then. There's really no reason beyond people's personal taste. Pre-1960 nickels represent that last era of low mintages (less than 100 million, generally) so when nickels these days are minted in the billions, the earlier years are less common and therefore more desirable. But to many collecting it isn't always about the monetary value. We collect what we like, despite its value. I save any coin with a hole in it but I know I won't retire on their value. ;D It's just fun!

 No prob!

BTW, I only saved pre-1960 nickels to the point where I put together one roll of each. I don't save 'em anymore them unless they're the rare ones (under 10 million mintage).

I only kept about a roll of semi key dates (48 s and 49 s) with mintages at about 10 million, the rest I cashed with a teller who told me she had a husband who collected coins
