In another forum, far far away, in a post about the mint's direct ship program.

One poster, who wasn't happy with Chase, decided to pay off a $19,000
balance on his Chase card with Presidential $1 coins in a Chase branch.

I'm sure most of us would have loved to have been there to see it.

If you think about it, once a branch goes bad for us dropping things like
the "F" word, with a credit card payment, their fee schedule doesn't apply.
Your typical credit card fails to specify any limitations regarding forms
of cash used to make payments in branch.

This is similar to those of us using IKE's to pay our mortgage payments
and such, but to the extreme.

I've been paying my mortgage with halves for sometime. About $60,000 has been paid on the principal with my dumps. I'm a few months ahead on my payments. They never complain and always thank me. Thank me? No, Thank you for taking my dumps.

I've been doing the same, but I don't think I've ever come close to
$19,000 in a single dump.

I have done $8,000 in halves in a single dump, but that was with a
willing bank, not forced upon them.
