I think he may have been referring to the clad separation in the edge.Diver_Down said:d2arcing said:it is pure glossy rim no line marks... fake?

The "line marks" are called a reeded edge. Many halves are so worn that the reeds wear off i.e. Casino Halves. It is possible that you have a "casino half" which had been chromed giving the illusion of a silver rim.
They don't exist, they didn't make any dies for them. They coined bicentennials only during 1975 & 1976.Ju8vP3t said:Could be, but not probable, I've found clad-year Kennedys like that before, looking at 'em you'd think they're silver, I filed one a little and underneath was a copper sandwich.....What I want to find is a 1975 Kennedy , IF one even exists...

Hopefully it is, but odds are astronomical it is not. Get you one of those small digital scales and weigh it yourself, then compare that weight to what it should be for silver and for clads.Rich Hartford said:I've got a 1973 that is not plated, looks and sounds like silver. I brought it to one coin store where he looked at in under a microscope. He said it was silver and that I should send it off to some place in Colorado for some verification.
I then brought it to another coin store. This guy looked at it and said it probably was not silver. He gave it a spin and listened for the ring. Must have sounded like silver so he looked up the weight and then weighed it. The results were that it was not silver.
I still think that it is silver and am hanging on to it.
