I was making my routine weekly pickups today and the first two banks didn't have much to pick up. Only a single $200 bag of nickels between the two of them and 1 - 1950 Canadian silver dime from a tellers tray.

My last bank only had 1 - $50 bag of pennies. On occasions like this I sometimes will buy the quarter bags as well...you just never know.

So as I was picking up the bags at my last bank, I noticed a quarter on the end of the tray that looked silver, so I asked if I could buy it. She mentioned it was silver, and said sure. Then she said, "Do you want this dime too"? Of course. :) I mentioned that I'd be lucky to find another quarter like it in the bags I was buying as quarters are hard to come by which is why I usually don't bother searching them. She said she thought their coin machine rejected them which is how she had found the dime and quarter in the tray. Hmmmm...of course she also told me that it was because they were magnetic. ;D

So I picked up the 4 - $500 bags of quarters they had in addition to the $50 bag of pennies and the loose quarter (1964-D) and dime (1964-D).

Finally got around to searching them.

Quarter bag #1
------------------
Skunk

Quarter bag #2
------------------
1 Canadian (1944) <--- My first silver quarter ever in a bag from this bank after 12 skunks.

Quarter bag #3
------------------
1 pre-1965 Washington (1941) <--- Two bags with a silver quarter in a row... What luck!! :)

Quarter bag #4
------------------
When I pulled the first shiny 1964-D about 4 handfuls in and it looked just like the one from the teller I was guessing it was rejected when filling this bag. Then when I pulled two more within a couple handfuls, the juices really got flowing...

Ended up with
11 pre-1965 Washington (1954-D, 1958, 1963-D, 1964, 1964-D(7))

1 Canadian (1986)

This was one more than my previous personal best bag of 10 that I had had earlier this year. And this one had the tough 1958 date (17th toughest washington quarter). It was also the first Philly 1958 Quarter posted on this board since it started. :)

I also finished the $50 bag of pennies...nothing too special, but it did include a 1955-S.

19 wheat pennies (1941, 1942, 1944, 1945, 1945-D, 1946(2), 1946-D, 1947, 1947-S, 1951-D, 1952-D(2), 1954-D, 1955, 1955-S, 1957-D, 1958-D(2))

20 Canadian (1941, 1963, 1968, 1973(2), 1979, 1980(2), 1981(2), 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1994(2), 1998, 1999, 2006-RCM)

Going to have to try to get the next bags off the machine for penny, nickel, dime, and quarter just in case those quarters were part of a collection. Suspect at least the dime bag will be good based on the teller tray find. I'll also have to buy the half dollar bag again...usually do that about once every month or two... Wish me luck...

Great score on the quarters ! I'm always tempted to search for those elusive quarters myself. This year I searched a couple of hundred in hand rolls=0, 2 boxes=0, and four $500.00 bags=2 Washington.
I may try a bag before the month is over.

That's awesome. Totally jealous here. That 1958 quarter is a good one, for sure.
