Hunting at post office any good?

My post office used to have a stamp machine which was great for dollars. now it's a kiosk.
Anyway, I have a friend whoes mother used to work at the post office and he points out they get their coin directly from the mint. has anyone ever tried buying rolls etc from a post office? If so, what were the results?

on a side not my grandpa worked at a post office from 49-76. Over that time he pulled a stupid amount of silver out. Some he sold in the 80's when it was way high but most he saved. That was until he passed away and my grandma sold it dirt cheap like 7 yrs ago to a dealer
