Todays coin roll searching finds

Here is all I found today in $220 of quarters and $80 in dimes.

1964 Silver Dime
1979 Canadian Quarter
1992 100 SOMETHING!?!? Does someone know what the coin on the far left is and where it is from?

Think im going to try roll searching myself, need to fill some books. Although it is going to be alot harder now since I started the books like 15 yrs ago. Guess I will just have to dig some!!

I filled up a bunch of spots in my quarter books today because I was bored, haha.

I just did some hunting and it is a South Korean 100 Won coin. It equals about 10 cents, haha. SCORE!

I get all of my rolls straight from the bank and then roll them back up and drop them off at another bank. Dimes are easy to search as you just look at their sides and a silver dime will stand right out. That is assuming that the rolls are in the clear plastic wrap.

I have also found a 20 swiss francs coin, mexican coins, and a couple other countries as well.

Not much there, but not bad if you aren't sitting there checking each one individually. I have a S Korean coin in a box in my room somewhere...

So you get your coins from one bank, and deposit them in a seperate bank? Is that so you don't get the same rolls you returned two trips ago or something?

Most banks shouldn't require you to roll them back up again. I always just bring it back in a big jar, tell them I want to cash it in and they dump it in their machines and pay me. Should save you a lot of time. If your bank charges, take them back to a casino, they won't.

I just roll em back up as i check them, i haev one of those plastic tubes you just fill up and then twist the ends of the rolls. Oh yea- if you dont want to look through the same rolls either have one bank for depositing change and another for getting it. Also mark your rolls with a marker.

I do what someone up above said. I have 4-5 banks that I get rolls from, and one bank i deposit them all at. I'm sure they hate me there!

Don't forget about checking half dollars too. It can be a little tough to find a bank that has a lot of them in rolls, but if you can, check for the occasional 1964 silver half, and especially the 1965, 66, 67, 68, 69 and 70 silver clad halves (40% silver).

No banks around here that I am aware of have places to count change. The only places that will do that are those places in stores that charge like 15% to do it.

I also check half dollar rolls as well. So far I have found a 1967 half and a 1976 S from a proof or mint set in AU.

The half dollars are your best bet. I have been searching them for a couple of years now, and have found 500+ 90% (oldest is two 1918 walkers) and over 3500 40%. I sold 3000 of the 40% earlier this year for a $1000 profit. Paid for my DFX. Getting rid of them I do it a little different. I will buy a full box ($500) then search them. After removing the ones I want, instead of turning them back in I spend them (basically any time I spend under $10 at a place I use them). A lot of people like to keep them and put them away, which is fine with me because that takes them out of circulation and I dont get them again. One other thing to keep a watch out for, 1974D double dies. Use a magnafying glass and look at the RUS in TRUST. I have found 66 of these so far. Red book on them in MS63 is $150, so even the circulated ones will have a premium. HH

Have any of you coin roll searchers found any ate up zinc pennies in your rolls yet. Some detectorist tumble the really bad ones and hide them in the rolls. Doing this sounds petty but i know one local guy who brags about it.

WOW!! I have searched close to $1,000 so far in halves and only found 2 worthwhile ones! 90% of the time the bank has 1 roll or less, and this is the biggest bank in my town of 80,000 people. The other banks usually have like 5 halves total laying around in their drawers an that's about it.

I'll keep trying though.

I have found some chewed up ones that must have been from someone with a MD...I'd recognize them anywhere! As mentioned above...make sure to mark the rolls or you will start getting the same ones back. HH
