Last year, my brother was living in Washington, D.C. and was banking at a bank in Falls Church, pretty close to where you are. I had him order me a couple boxes to try them out. I think I got 2 on 2 different occasions, a few months apart. Each box would have, like you said, a large quantity of brand new 95s, 96s and 97s and a couple 40%ers. The rest would be heavily worn casino halves. The boxes out here aren't like that...usually 10% new 95s, 96s, 97s, 98s and 00s but mostly circulated 70s and 80s with some being heavily worn casino halves and a few 40s or a 64 mixed in if you're lucky. Strange how the boxes are all so different geographically.
Dr, I see you are all over the place. I agree, it's strange what a difference geography makes. I have a standing order now at this bank and I'm going to do a box or so a week. It's funny but I still like the coppers the best for some reason.
I'll see you on the currency page also.
Thanks, GS,
I agree, any one that's not a skunk. Funny, I'd only find 7 or 8 wheaties lately and I'm finding that in silver. Good fun.
I do metal detecting, currency searching, coin roll hunting, lots of travelling, work on/restore my antique and classic cars, work a full time job, started my own business, bicycle as much as I can, so yeah I'm kind of all over the place. My brother has since moved to Texas and I've only had him order me 2 boxes from there, since I've only been down to visit him once this year, but I did get some silver from there, including a Ben.
Another thing I've noticed, is with the halves, lots of people report seeing the NIFC halves, but around here I haven't seen a single one in like 10 boxes or something. I still have not seen a single 2008 let alone a 2009.
