Any opinions - grease filled or strike through?
It looks like there may have been duct tape folded over the end of the die because of the diagonal line pattern.
That would indicate a strike-through, wouldn't it?

Cant be that type of damage because the rim would be rubbed down too. Looks like a strike through error.

good point......but what if someone took a piece of sand paper to it and didn't touch the edges?
just playing devil's advocate here. i'm not trying to downplay anything, i hope it is some sort of error. i'm definitely no expert on errors , i'm just commenting on what it looks like to me and theorizing on how it could have gotten that way if its not an error.
