What's the most common date wheat you find

For me it has always seemed to be the 1956 wheat. Even if i only find 14 wheats about 3 or 4 would be 1956. Is it the same for guys too.

For me the 1956-D just surpasses the 1958-D.

Makes sense as it is the highest minted wheat.

For me it's a tie between 1946 and 1956d.

1944 for rolls and detecting for me too. Went out detecting last weekend, found 73 coins, 1 wheat it was '44. Went through $100 in rolls, didn't count them but '44 was a clear majority.

According to my actual totals here's my top ten:

1956-D (255)
1958-D (252)
1957-D (228)
1944 (139)
1952-D (136)
1945 (121)
1955-D (115)
1953-D (104)
1946 (98)
1951-D (90)

...and I've also completed full rolls for 1941, 1944-S, 1953-S, 1942, 1946-S, 1950-D, 1945-S, 1940, 1946-D, 1952-S & 1944-D.

Wow never though I would get such a huge response. Also I find it strange cherryman that 1947 would be your most common. I belive out of all the 1940's that year had the lowest mintage. When i first started it took me a while to find it. Many of the common dates everyone has listed mainly 1957d and 1946 are also ones I see all too common. I distincly remember there being a time where strangly I did not find a single 58' wheat for several weeks not that I wanted to anyway.

That's a big drop from 452 to 181. The 1956 - 1958 D series are my top three, although 1944 is pretty respectable at 214. :-)

I dont keep great stats on this but i have been sorting my wheats and I would have to say 1944, I have about 30 solid date rolls of 1944 so far.
