Good grief you must have the patience of a saint. I am looking at the amount of coins you have gone through and I'm dizzy. I saw that you went through $2,000 in quarters and only found 1 keeper, that is sad for all the effort you put in.

Thorough, well documented............and successful. Way to go there Gman; especially on the 38d nickel and 09 vdb cent.

Kudos.

Did you see the reverse with the VDB first or see the plain 1909 obverse first? That's one of those heart attack causing coins if you see the reverse first. :'(

I believe I saw the reverse first. :) Unlike some of you, I have never come close to having a heart attack from finding something. I kind of expect it and just think it's pretty cool. Definitely will say I usually smile when I find the rarer stuff or when I find a collection that was dumped, but I don't do any special dance or anything.

I don't remember exactly, but it was in pretty good shape, the VDB was clearly visible to the naked eye (sometimes they require magnification to pick out).

Quarters are extremely quick to search as they are big and easy to pick up out of the bag and edge search...probably was all of an hour tops for the whole bunch and I don't really expect much from them. Only hoping to find 1 per every $1000 and I have gone through streaks for $8000 or so before with nothing. It's the biggest hole in my collection outside of gold coins and silver dollars which are about impossible to find in circulation.

And yes I have a ton of patience, good eyesight, and a lot of time at night when the world is asleep and I am not.
