were all skunks...........this is the 2nd time that this has happened to me after almost a year of ordering 16-20 boxes at a time from the same bank. hope it is not a sign of things to come, but as i said i have seen so many people in my area get into the game over the last few months. well anyway i am glad i got them out of the way and maybe next week will be better. i will post my monthly stats to the thread later, but i think that october will be my worst month so far.

Ounce wise Oct (24.4) was 3rd worst month ever for us started in March, and was quite a drop from Sept's 189oz
last set of 10 boxes got was mostly casino rounds, bet near %90 were smooth edged, only got 18 silvers one of was %90'er.

WTF ! They are shipping Connecticut boxes to Alabama. I didn't know that you had a big skunk like that before. It might be nothing but just plain bad luck.
What stinks is that you get used to getting good boxes. For me I pretty much know what's in the box before I open it. If I see a silver edge I assume it is the work of a sharpie or a foreign steel coin

I hope you get a couple of dream boxes next week

Are any of you marking the rolls you are checking and turning back into the bank? I have gone through about 25 rolls in the past month and once I open and check, I mark the roll so I know if I come across it again that I've already been in that one. I just ordered a box, $500.00 worth today and it will be here next Wed. Hope I don't get back my marked rolls.

Hmm, one of the rules, dont mark your coins. Some do, I personally dont do it. I perfer to scratch my initials into the face. (joking of course)

I just don't know how you guys could have the stomach to do 20 boxes. I guess the temptation of a dream box makes if worth the while. I did a box once and got 8 40% and was disappointed. The next box was a skunk. I did two other boxes and got one more 40% and that was enough for me.

In my area, it takes about 2 months to get my own coins back, sometimes along with a few silver coins. Once I know the circle, I stop mark coins any more.

as i have said before this hobby is alot like fishing to me. it's great when you catch um and it sux when you don't. the boxes are your only real shot at getting any silver in my area due to the amount of competition here. there are plenty of banks in my town and near my town but each one has at least one little ol man that makes the rounds each week. seems like i see someone new every week while i am picking up my boxes or dumping. i don't know if the high price has brought out the fair weather hunters or what is going on but it seems that everybody is gettin in the game now

Hate to break it to you but 25 rolls is small potatoes. This guy searches 20 boxes a week.... that's 1000 rolls & he don't re roll them.

I suppose there comes a time when you do that much volume you could very well be searching your own dumps......

I know you all know this but I said it for the new guy.

It's like Mojo said, and 1 box is small potatoes. They key to large finds in this hobby is to search volume, volume, volume. When searching those quantities produces zero finds, it's no longer a hobby, it's a job.

Job is correct! I'm setting the groundwork to do close to $1,000,000 during next summer. This will be my summer job with extensive dump locations throughout 3 states. Do the math that's about 30 boxes a day.

wow 30 boxes a day hope you post pics of your finds. you should be getting some LJ results with that amount of volume. funny thing is my wife is a school teacher and we have been talking about doing 10 boxes a day during the summer while she is off (Mon-Fri) so i guess we would do 50 a week. the problem is we are going to have to find some more banks with a coin machine to take the dumps. there is only one bank in our town (with 3 branches) that have the machines and i have them maxed out doing 20 a week. we do have 2 coinstar machines here in grocery stores but i want to avoid them because of the fees.
funny thing is when i started about a year ago i was doing 4 boxes a week, then the finds went down and i increased the volume to 8. when the finds went down again i increased to 10. a few months later to 12 and so on and so on and now i am at 20 a week and the finds are meager again. i had been thinking of increasing to 30 in the next few weeks. all i know is it is getting harder and harder to get silver these days.....
