    Newbie's finds

Got $500 worth of halves from my local bank. I think you folks call that a block. Am about 2/3 of the way through the rolls. So far I have found three 40% and one 1964. Is that better than average?
Can't believe there are some many 1971s.
About the "S" proofs. Are they more rare than the halves that contain silver?
    Thanks...Jim

Don't forget to save any halves minted after 2001, as they are low mintage and hard to find.

Congrats on the finds! Beginners luck is true! Anyways, S proofs are pretty common, and are dirt cheap. Some people just throw them back in. BUT from 1992- present, some of the S mint proofs were made out of 90% silver. They're called silver-proofs, and you can tell if you have one by the silver rim. Also, some 1976 S proofs have 40% silver in them.
