Overall it was NOT worth the 252 miles hunt; one thing noted most of the Tellers remarked about all the people asking for Halves did over 900 Dollars in could of gotten more from several Banks but the test samples were entirely searched dumps- many had name & phone numbers on Rolls or an "X". The first coin did find in a teller's tray with 2 Clads was the Ben though, and another teller offered me a sealed Loomis Box, it had 5 %40's in it. Slim pickins and lots of competition out there.
Not bad, I just got 1 Ben, 22 40's and an "S" from 2 boxes.
You just spent more on gas than I did.
This was actually following 3 skunk boxes, so it was kind of nice...
Halves Only.
2009: 47,411 halves searched (1,185lbs, .59 Tons): 93 - 90% (.19%), 258 - 40% (.54%), 10 - "S" (.02%). 71.79 Troy Oz, 5.98 Troy Lbs.
Goals: Near term: $100 face 90% Halves
Long term: $1,000 face 90% Halves
I get lots of rolls with names and phone numbers. Surprisingly, I often find keepers in the rolls. Not all of those are dumps
Yeah, I like to think of it like this:
Someone has a jar of coins. They decide to roll them up and bring it to a bank. While rolling up some nickels, they see a buffalo. They're thinking, "suckers, it will suck for the person that gets this useless foreign coin."
Same thing applys to all other denominations
