Solid day today.

$174 in halves yielded a 66 and 68D 40% silver halves ($120 was in rolls - which yielded nada - rest was loose)
$160 in dimes yielded a 46 silver rosie and a 10 cent 1983 hong kong coin
$34 in pennies yielded 13 wheats (42D, 44, 44D, 44S, 45, 52S, 52D x 2, 53D x 2, 55D, 57D, 58D), 1 canadian (1970), and 1 german 2 pfennig (1969)

Took 6 banks to come up with the halves - the hong kong coin and 2 pfennig were both new finds for me. Had a blast as always.

Well done, Hothgar!

I get a kick out of foreign coins too. Quite a few will slip into Vegas slot machines because they're exactly the right size and shape as pennies and nickels. My latest was a Saudi Arabian 10 halala piece from a nickel machine back in September. Coins from Ireland, Singapore, Switzerland, Guatemala, Germany and others have appeared in my cups of coins.

Speaking of said cups, from today's $35 in nickels -

1941 (2)
1949
1954D
1954S
1955D
1959D

No keepers in this bunch but maybe next time.

Hothgar,

Great finds there, congrats on the silver and I also love finding foreign coins as well. I was wondering about the loose halves, do you have halve paper wrappers to roll them up? I asked a bank for some coin wrappers of all denominations including halves0but I guess they didn't have them. Just wondering where I would get halve wrappers.

Immy, I can't wait until summer or fall as I usually go on vacation and I get to go to a beautiful casino. I hadn't thought about looking for coins from the casino until I read about it here. Unfortunately Ohio doesn't have any casinos, even though they have tried to legalize gambling here-it never passes. :(

And I'm afraid if casinos eventually do go up in Ohio they'll feature the new generation of coinless machines. Vegas is slowly going that route. :'(

I applaud you guys for having the patience to hit those banks as often as you do. Buying rolls is never a problem but I'm so jaded with casinos' automated counters that re-rolling them would drive me bananas! The down side is I never get to search dimes. A hotel near me used to have dime machines but they went out with 99? buffets.
