Why are quarter rolls so bad for silver?

This seems to be a universal trend with all of us. A couple of years I must have gone 7-8 months without finding a single silver. After searching $100 daily and finding nothing I finally gave up. I only look now to find the newest state quarters and once I find them I hold off until the next issue.

bscofield just went thru $500 without finding one. That was my typical week for quite awhile.

Anyone have an idea why this is?

I gave up after a couple of $1000...Funny though...My wife finding a 1964 quarter in the change at the student store at the Jr. High where she is a counselor is what got me into hunting rolls. I would get mostly quarters and $100 in dimes. Silver dimes started showing up and I changed gears. I think silver quarters are like the proverbial turd in a punch bowl...easy to spot! ;) This is the one that got me started...The 1909-S VDB was in the pic already...to lazy to re-scan!
