After reading the post on rolls of Halves, i decided that halves seemed like the way to go. Silver quarters in rolls are scarce because most vending machines won't accept them, which I think makes them stand out even more, which is why I think you don't see many of them. Pennies can be a chore, so I let my kids handle them (keeps them busy & quiet for hours!) Dimes seem to be good producers, so I do those myself.
So, I picked up $200 in rolled halves today. I was so anxious that I decided to look through them in my truck while I waited for my son to get out of school. 71 SILVER HALVES OUT OF 20 ROLLS!!!!!!! I thought I was seeing things when I opened the first roll, it had 9 in it!! Halves are definitely the way to go.

Hey Paul, looks like someone must have rolled up the halves they had been saving for a while. Congrats on the silver.

How do you tell 40% from 90%? By the year?

Paul

Paul, the 1964 and 1964D halves are 90% silver. Forty percent(40%) silver clad dates from 1965-1970.

Also the Bicentennial (1776-1976-S mint mark) is 40% silver. You did EXCEPTIONALLY well today. Now go
back to that bank(s) and buy the rest of what they have. ;D

My halve roll search today was of $250, and I found a 1968 and 1969 (40% silver) halves. I also found a 1981S proof coin, and no it's not silver. But it's my first proof coin,so I'm happy. :)
