My first attempt at roll hunting

After reading the posts on roll hunting I had to try it. I have two experiences to share. The first one involves nickel hunting. I was on a 7 day cruise last week so I thought that I would try looking thru the nickels in the ships casino. This is what I found....a total of 87 nickels dating from 1939 up to 1960. One of the nickels is an unusual looking (copper?) 1945 D. The bulk of the nickels were from 1946 to 1955.
The second experience was today. I got 12 rolls of half dollars and out of those I received 1967, 1968, 1968, 1965, 1967 and another 1965. I also got a box of dimes...I struck out on those.

All in all the nickels were quite a bit of fun to search...I would just put $20 in a nickel slot machine and cash it out. Searching the halves was also interesting. All 6 of those came from the same roll. One of the rolls was all 1971.

This seems like a fun addition to metal detecting.

Congrats on the great finds!

The 1945-D is a silver war nickel! Double congrats on that!

Wow, 87 pre-1960? That's a lot. You must have gone thru quite a few. And WTG on the silver!

Immy...I spent 7 days on a cruise ship and when we were at sea I had plenty of time to look thru the nickel slot machines.
