Ok, the coin is German... as for the value I can't yet figure out.

The 50 pfennig is like our half dollar. The german pfennig was their penny, and the mark was their dollar. That was before they went to the euro. I spent 5 1/2 years there and got to know their monetary system pretty well.

Your coin was minted during the Cold War in what was then West Germany. There should be a girl with a plant on the reverse.

Value would depend on the mintmark which is right below the "50" - D, F, G, or J. Also check the edge to see if it's smooth or reeded.

Love those foreign finds!

And your 1950 Jefferson is #9 of the 10 lowest mintages. In fact, the 1946S is #11. A great bunch!
