Activity seems down on the roll board

I know Snee has been posting a week's worth of finds at a time rather than daily but is everyone else cutting back on searching a bit? There seems to be less activity recently, or at least less than when T-Net first set up this specific board.

Some have mentioned difficulty finding halves, which is probably partly to blame, but has the recent great success in half hunting meant some are laying off other denominations?

Or is everyone simply a little too busy these days? Are bank hassles discouraging you? Just curious...

Two wheats last weekend, 1946, 1958D, out of $10. Not much, but hey, it's something!

Yeah,i've been a little busy during the day lately. That and like you mentioned, still having a hard time finding halves.I tried nickels and pennies a few times but i'm more drawn to the halves(probably because I can't get any) ,I think the find percentages are bigger, not to mention values per coin when found.I like silver coins.I'm gonna make some time to talk with the manager at my bank and have rolls ordered in advance if possible,if not I really am gonna switch banks to one that will. It's not a big request.

I'm still doing a lot of rolls. Just been spending more time swinging the detector with the weather warming up.
In to days rolls, I got 2 Wheat's, a 1941, and a 1958.........5 40% Kennedy's.........and 1 1964d Roosie. I am going to back off on the Halves for a few weeks so the supply can replenish itself. I saw the armored truck leaving Wells Fargo today as I was driving by. It made me wonder if it was full of halves that I have dumped there. I have dumped literally thousands in halves in the last 2-3 months. I really hope no one is a beginner roll searcher at that bank, that would be discouraging!

You're right Paul, I should have realized more people would be MD-ing with improving weather. Maybe roll searching is hottest when it's coldest.

I haven't posted much lately because I just can't get any rolls and seem to have nowhere to deposit them either. It is also supposed to be warmer this week, so I will probably be out swinging.

I seem to have no trouble finding rolls, but not much to post, alas. Today out of $260 in halves, I got three 40% coins. ;)

That's more than enough to make a post! I almost pass out when I find ONE silver half, haha. Now I get excited when I even have halves to search through at all!

I have been out with my DFX a little more also, but I don't post much due to the way I get rid of my halves. I get $1000 at a time, and to get rid of them I spend them at convenience stores, walmart, etc, so it takes a while to get rid of them. I dont go thru rolls as often as I wish, but my method work for me in this area.

Wayne, how long does it take you to spend $1000 in halves?

I have found another way to get rid of halves. My wife & I took a bunch to the casino Sunday. Now, we just aren't gamblers, just something we never got into I guess. Once in a while we go just for something to do. So we took a bunch of rolled halves, and bought chips with them. after spending maybe $10 on slots & lunch, we cashed out & went home.....easy way to get rid of rolls. For you people who dump them in coinstar machines (they charge 9%) maybe you should go to a casino, buy chips, spend the 9% yourself, then cash out. It would be like a free night out! Who knows, maybe you'll hit the jackpot!! If you do, don't forget the guy who suggested this idea to you.

I personally feel that after the last couple of posts that I made about my coin roll searching, that no one very interested in what I had to say. So I've just decided to keep my meager finds to myself and inform a few friends privately. Sometimes I get that boys club image and there's really no place for a womans interaction. :-\

I'll just continue to read and occasionally post some comments. I wish everyone great success in their searching.

Well, I'm not so much putting a week between posts... It's just that it's more work than it's worth to scan, size, and post every day's finds... (every day that I do it...) I've just gotten more lax on doing it I guess...

Immy,

On how long it takes me to get rid of the halves, it depends. If I am running our group lotto, about 2 weeks or so. If not, around 4 weeks.

Picked up another two boxes of halves during lunch, gotta wait until after work to search them though. I cut the boxes open after I picked them up, and it did not look promising. Did not see any silver on the ends of the rolls.

Just teasing, of course. Maybe not many replies was just a timing thing or something? I dunno. I like to see posts from any and all no matter what gender you are. ;D

Actually, for me it has been busy is all. I love roll hunting and reading everyone's posts. We have had some big conventions in town over the last few weeks, so work is extra busy. I also will be out MD'ing some, but I am moving to Okinawa in July, so my roll hunting clock is ticking down. Although I hope to do some beach MDing there.

Out of about 600 in halves bought from the casino...1 silver half. ??? It is also a strange one that I can't find in my red book. It is a bicentennial, but with a D mintmark. All of the silver proofs listed for that year were an S mintmark. It also had some strange coating over the front, like clear nail polish, but it peeled off like tape. Very strange. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know.

I am going to search 100 in pennies this week though. I love finding wheats. The bank is now selling me the bagged pennies at 50 per bag. These are coins that have been pulled from their counting machines and sent to the different branches. I got a ton out of my last bag.

Pennyworth---I think from a new reader and poster's perspective that everyone is interested in the finds people come up with more than the gender of who is finding it. And...maybe some of us are jealous of your finds!! ;) Please keep posting.

Bummer about leaving Vegas mtl, but you're right, the beach MD-ing should be really interesting. Lots of WWII stuff just waiting to be found I'll bet.

Odd about your 76D silver half. Take it to Sahara Coins and have them look at it. You may have someting very scarce.

Ditto about reading posts. Even if someone finds just a 1958D out of $100 in pennies, I love hearing about it. Post, post, post!!!
