Two boxes of nickels...second box was a trifecta!
Picked up three boxes today after work, then got home to a muggy, rainy evening. Did the first box pretty quickly, which had two Wars in it and a slew of other pre-60s.
After dinner I hit the 2nd box. Right away I found a war nickel. Then a little bit later out pops a really nice 1937 Buff. Then a bit later out pops a barely legible 1920 Buff (I ended up using Nic-a-date on it anyway to verify). Then, maybe 3/4 through the box I get a 1902 Liberty Nickel! I was pretty excited with that box. I had been on a V slump since 12/18/2008 so that was nice to break that. Unfortunately though I had already found a 1902 nickel in circulation but I'll still take it.
Here are the highlights:

So far I have 24 war nickels and 7 Buffs in 2010.

My V slump has been since 12/23/2008....
You had me beat by 5 days...
Hope that means I have one in one of the bags sitting here waiting to be searched.

Good luck to ya Gman. I haven't seen many V's posted here at all. Probably because nickels aren't searched by as many hunters. But also they are just hard to find!
Thanks Crazy Michaelson.

Well done. That 37 is a thing of beauty. The V nickel is still on my wish list.

I agree...Very nice box!
How many boxes/bags of nickels do you search a week? I've been thinking about getting a box or two of knicles to go with my Halves and and dimes. Also how much is a box of nickels?
Thanks and HH

I don't do solely boxes. I have searched 57,800 nickels in 2010, which is about 29 full boxes worth. One bank I pick up a few boxes when I know I will have time during the week, and any other time I drop by a different branch doing regular business I pick up $20 worth, or however many the teller has handy.
