Does anyone find many 1960 Nickels?

I am just curious if other people have much luck finding 1960 Nickels. I find plenty of 1960-D, but no 1960 plains. They had a prett high mintage of 55,416,000, but I just can't find them at all! I have searched about $3,000 worth of nickels in the past 6 months or so and have yet to fill up a single roll of them (40 coins). I have found more 1940, 1941, and others. So far this year, out of $1,368 searched I have actually found more silver war nickels. Has anyone else been noticing this? It also took me quite a while to fill a roll of 1961 plain while the 1961-D was easy to get.

Anyone else ever have a problem finding fairly common dates such as these?

Hmm, this is interesting.

I did a post like this on the Coins board (on this site) talking about the same problem with the 1947-D. I wish I could give you some feedback but I tend to ignore 1960s. From now on I'll try to notice their frequency. They really should easier to find, especially since you live pretty close to Philadelphia. How many more do you need Brian?

I'm a good 10 shy of filling a roll of them. I just find it odd that this is the only date that I can't really find. I have found everything else but the infamous 1950-D. I guess I just need to keep on looking.

I actually got a 1947-D today :)

Weird.

Wouldn't it be funny if you find the 50-D before you complete the 60P roll? :D That's the way things happen sometimes. Have you found at least 10 from the $3000 you've searched? That's a good way to gauge how soon you'll complete it.

When I was completing rolls there were nine other dates with lower mintages that I finished before the 47-D, the lowest being the 53-S, which has a mintage of only 19 million.

I have found about 30 60P's so far out of about $3,000 or so. Maybe 10 this year with 12 silver war nickels. It's always odd how this all works. One thing I have noticed is that whenever I grab just two nickels from a pile it always seem to be a 1987 D and a 1987 P. I have done that at least 50 times so far.

Wouldn't you know it...

From yesterday's $30 in nickels -

1946S
1947D (of course!)
1951D
1957D
1958D

&...1960! :D

You want me to send it your way Brian?
