today's 10 boxes

out of 10 boxes 7 were skunks. the other 3 gave up:
40%-----15.
no 1964's, no bens and no walkers. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
i told the vault teller at this bank to order me 2K in halves for next week and 3K in dimes. this will make my total between 2 supply banks 4K in halves per week. sure is a switch from doing 12K a week but i have got to decrease my volume due to these measly finds and the dumping fees i have to pay.

That's not too bad, maybe switching it up a little between dimes and halves will help

Good move SC. Getting fees for those skunks has to suck. Good luck on the dimes.

Would like to know what the cost of the dumping fee is. I found a coin machine in a credit union that is 3%, cheapest in town, hate to pay that but have to every so often.

CU is the way to go if you can find one. Mine is free. I've been dumping there for a year this month and they haven't kicked me out yet.
Good luck with the dimes

:icon_thumright:Could be worse! Keep it up and I'm sure you will find another silver vein.

ps Not to rub it in, but I feel sorry for you guys that have to pay for dumping coins. I guess I am fortunate...for now.
Most of my banks don't even ask if you are a member before cashing you out (they are supposed to). Two of my CUs (the same type, one on each side of town) require that you type your account number and the last four digits of your social in order to deposit the money into your account. All the other banks with counting machines just print a receipt that you take to a teller to get your cash.

Re: today's 10 boxes

thanks jim and rich. as far as the dump fee here is the total costs. first i have to buy the plastic fed approved bags from the bank for 75.00 per case of 100. then i have to pay 3.00 for each 1K bag that i bring in. so tomorrow i will pay 15.00 to dump 5 bags.
someone here suggested to me (i can't remember who) that i should just short the bags for 3.00 each and i would break even. i was told that they do not count the bags that they only weigh them. was also told that nothing under 3.00 is questioned. been kind of afraid to go this route simply because if i am caught doing this it would give my dump bank the excuse it has been looking for to cut me off. all this charging is nothing more than a tactic to get rid of me. i have one close friend that is a teller at this bank. we dated back in high school and she don't charge me if she can get away with it. the bank manager is a d!%* he has tried to make it hard on me in hopes i will just leave, and i wish i could but this particular bank has the only counters in town, and they only one that has acted like they would cooperate half way with me.

Silvercop, I thought you were a cop.. is there a law enforcement code of ethics? ;D If you're paying to dump, why not try to dump at a different bank? The larger merchant banks usually offer free dumping. I use BofA here in California and they let me dump as much as I want. Of course, ordering is a different issue.. I have to be on the good side of banks here in order to order.. i.e. occasional bottle of wine when I get a good box.

Re: today's 10 boxes

i am but there is no code of ethics when it comes to dumping i guess. the problem here is i am in a small town and there arn't that many banks to choose from. there is only one bank (my dump bank) in town with a counter. i was kicked off it over a year ago. that is when i started getting the bags. then they started charging me for the bags. then they started charging me a fee for each bag i bring in. i did have one other dump bank. their vault is about the size of an old phone booth. i spoke with the bank manager before and got her blessings to dump. it told her i had the fed approved bags all i wanted to do is bring them in and cash out. she agreed. about a month into it she said she could not take anymore of my bags for free and that she would have to charge me 5.00 per bag i brought in. said that their vault was a problem after all and they did not have the room to take more than 5 bags a week. so that was the end of that. i asked another bank in town and they flat out said no way. we have 2 credit unions here but they don't have counters and one does not even keep cash on hand at the credit union. when i heard this i could not believe it. i asked them what they do when someone comes in to make a withdrawl and the teller said the cu issues them a check. anyway my dumping opitions are limited. i could go down the road to a larger city but i figure i would just run into the same problems there. i guess that is what i will do if my current dump bank balks.

Re: today's 10 boxes

I would head to a larger city. I had the same problem with the bags. They wanted me to buy them. I just hit any of their other branches and ask for some bags ;D they always give them to me. Yesterday one teller just handed me 24 of them. As for shorting the bags I never count my rolls and just toss them in the bag. I have to deliver it in $1000 bags. I'm sure they are occasionally short as I find halves in my car all the time where I occasionally search and miss the bag when I toss them. Never heard a word about it. I imagine the weight difference is within $10 with the number of slick casino halves that go through the system.
