The ensuing weekends' plans...(UPDATE)

Since they are calling for a sh-t ton of rain this weekend, I went to the bank and bought a box of pennies and a box of nickels. Hopefully I will find a few keepers. I noticed a topic regarding holding on to pre-1982 pennies because of the current price of copper. Does anyone still recommend doing this? Good luck this weekend all, can't wait to see the updates.

Good luck with your boxes! Sounds like a great way to spend a rainy weekend. I might try that penny thing for a few months just to see how many accumulate. And who knows how high the price of copper will go.

I am saving them myself due to the fact that each penny has 2 cents worth of copper right now. The only thing I am unsure of is where to unload them at.

I assume that once you get a large enough amount you can just take them out to a scrap yard. But what do I know??

I am also beginning to keep any pre 1982 pennies as well because it can't hurt to keep them because you aren't losing any money.

Hey Kiros, I just got done with a box of pennies too. Only one canadian for me, 1993, and a couple of wheats.

And I just started holding on to copper pennies as well. Got a few pounds already. They add up quick.

Nice selection Kiros! Haven't found a 51-S nickel yet this year so good going. Yeah, opening rolls is like Lays potato chips -- you can't do just one!

I do not think you can sell pennies for scrap. You are not allowed to destroy money. I may be wrong let me know if I am.
