I got $2000 in halves today and found some interesting stuff...

2 walkers
18 kennedys

and then these odd balls

in pic 3 "gold" plated halves on with a die mark of lincoln on one the right side and the dates 1964 & 1984 on the left.

in pic 3 S proof coins...this is where I am stumped.
the 2000s and the 2002s look clad from the edge but the 2001s looks like silver on edge and looks very white on the surface, more silvery.

So, is the 2001s a silver coin and why?

HELP

Yup, looks like you got one of the silver proofs. Starting in 1992 Kennedys come in regular proofs and special silver proofs for collectors. Pretty good find considering there are less than 900,000 of those made in 2001.

I've never found a gold plated half or any with extra designs stamped on them. Found pennies like that but not halves. They're unofficial commemoratives of some sort done outside the Mint. From the wide variety of odd finds it looks like someone raided a coin collection.

WTG on the Walkers and the other silver!

I have found several of those plated halves and extra stamped myself (some with the head of lincoln and some with extra dates stamped on it), and I just toss them back in the pile to spend. They were done that way by companies to make novelty coins, coin pendants, etc. Congrats on the silver proof, I have found several of the 1976 bicentennial silvers, but only 1 or 2 of the latter proof silver in the tens of thousands of coins I have searched.

WOW on the Silver proof! I have found about a dozen clad proofs, but no silver ones yet! Keep it up!
