Apush: Box Weight Question
Mr. Apush is out of town, or I would just ask him. How much does a box of halves weight? Students at my school are building me a small carrier so I can tote the dumps with greater ease. I gave them the dimensions so I could haul 3 boxes at a time. These are the double decker boxes. The kids will modify a rolling luggage cart, but I forgot to add the amount of weight the cart must be able to handle. Got to love metal shop.

Re: Apush: Box Weight Question
Each box is 25 lbs. I bought a cart online which has a 200-lb capacity. 200 lbs equal to 8 boxes. That is the max to buy or dump for me. I usually dump 6 boxes at a time.

Re: Apush: Box Weight Question
25lbs!!!...That's all. My goodness they are heavy. Since Feb 2010, I have lost two full boxes of half dollars off my body plus another eight lbs. My goodness....I can't believe I was walking around all day with two full boxes of halves on my waist. Phew!!!

Amen! I lost quite a bit of weight too about five years ago. It really is hard to believe how much extra weight we carry around. 58 pounds is quite a bit. Congrats on such a great accomplishment!

Re: Apush: Box Weight Question
Apush,
I keep my eye out for luggage carts at flea markets. I can usually them pick up for $2 or less. I use them for hauling seriously heavy loads. It is pretty unbelievable how much weight and abuse those carts can take.

Re: Apush: Box Weight Question
I thought they seemed to weigh more than 25lbs, but, Clad halves weigh 11.34grams X 1000 then divide by 454 (grams in a pound)= 24.97

Re: Apush: Box Weight Question
25lbs is all? I never weighed them or even tried to guess, but I carry two boxes at a time out of the bank and boy can I feel it. So 50lbs makes me feel that weak...wow I am getting weak as I get older. Can't wait till I am 65...I'll be carrying them out one roll at a time

Hey! Go easy on us older guys. I'm 65 with two bad hips and can still carry a box out to my car.

Re: Apush: Box Weight Question
Cool...I still have hope then :0)
I picked up my two boxes today...both skunks! I asked the teller if she knew how much they weighed each and her exact words were "Only 25lbs each, but my god they seem so much heavier than that!" I couldn't help but laugh because apparently everyone feels that way. Must be the size to weight ratio that throws people off.

Re: Apush: Box Weight Question
Well, I weight 100lbs soaking wet so each time I carry one box . . . . well, I have Mr. Apush carry two.
