First time ever last week..I found an old time silver commemorative. It was a 1923-S Monroe Doctrine commemorative in EF/AU condition. I did find a 1892 Columbian Expo coin 8 years ago but I didn't count it since the mintages are high on those. I really like these old time commemorative since they have such low mintages. Let's see what other old time commemoratives people here have found.

Out of the many years and hundreds of thousands of dollars of halves I have searched, I have found only one old time silver commemerative. A more common (of the old commemeratives) George Washington Carver. I have found a couple of the newer silver George Washington commemerative halves.

Now that's a very nice suprise. Those coins command a pretty nice resale price, over melt, on 'that site that won't be named.' I'm totally enamored with the comm. coins. Good luck on future boxes. : )

Congrats on a nice find. I am still waiting for one of those low mintage commemoratives. Like you I have found the Columbians. I have also found the Booker T Washington and Washington/Carver.

Nice SF, the Monroe is a tough one to get. Big congrats. Only old commens I have found are the Stone Mountain ones.

Post some pics of it.

SF,
That's a great find. I've never seen anyone one on this forum find a Monroe Doctrine. I think you are the first. I've gotten about five Washington / Carvers and one Stone Mountain. Also a few Geaorge Washington Commems. Once again....Great find

That's sweet. Can you post a picture? Would love to see it.

I've found 3 in 1.375 million halves - 1946 Booker T. Washington, 1925 Lex-Concord, 1924 Huguenot

It's not the lowest mintage old time silver commemorative but I'll take it.
