I stopped at the post office today to mail a package. I paid with currency, and received a small amount of change. Even before becoming a member here at TreasureNet, I have always checked the coins that pass through my hands. I noted that one of the two cents I received in change had that old looking, copper patina to it. Before looking at the date, I turned it over to find wheat ears. I then went back to the front, and I couldn't believe the date was 1933. I knew that the cents after 1930 and before 1934 had fairly small mintages, even those minted in Philadelphia. Upon getting home, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 1933 had a mintage of 14.4 million. The coin is in nice shape, grading at about VF with no issues.
