Suggestion for the "2011 finds" column at bottom of posts

I've been noticing people's 2011 finds column and thought I'd suggest a new category to go on it...

AMOUNT SEARCHED YTD??

This would be an example of what it would look like:

2011 Finds
AMOUNT SEARCHED YTD
13x War Nickels
1x Barber Dimes
0x Mercury Dimes
15x Roosevelt Dimes
26x Canadian Dimes
1x Washington Quarters
0x WLH
0x Franklin
1x 1964 Kennedy
6x 40% Kennedy
0x Clad Proofs

I know I keep a spread sheet on what coins i searched through on what date and what I found, and the AMOUNT SEARCHED YTD

Just a suggestion, people see monstrous numbers of finds so far in 2011, but how much are people going through to find that much?
$20? $200? $2,000? even $20,000? some of these numbers seem unrealistic. The AMOUNT SEARCHED YTD column would make an easier understanding on what people find in how much they've searched..

Excluding pocket change because those little amounts don't matter unless you get a silver coin in change.

No one would be attracted to this hobby if they saw the amount of coins searched to find a keeper. The newbies would flee, and we would be left with about 10 posters.
So many people would be discouraged and quit the hobby that there would be no competition left.
With no competition,I would be getting dream boxes every week and would soon become bored. Plus I would run out of room to store all of that silver.

Buffaloboy,
I started keeping track on Jan. 1, 2011 just to see what the totals will be for this year. I'll post them monthly. I think it will be interesting.

Yes, we need to post our searched numbers too.. good idea..

I searched $1,000,000 in halves YTD and found 20 90%ers & 80 40%ers out of that lot. Searched $500,000 in dimes and got 40 90% Roosies. Searched $5,000 in nickels and was skunked. I'll add that to my bottom line. LOL

Hey, I was just going along with Rich's idea (I think Rich was kidding too). We can all joke around since Rich is a veteran searcher. It wasn't to make fun of your idea. I think your idea is fine. The truth is that not all of us want to show our results which is our right to not disclose it. However with that being said, my numbers are not high as some other's here due to lower amounts searched and also my area isn't as good as the east coast. All I can say is that it's in the middle range. If you read my posts, I've been skunked with many new coin boxes of late and I have complained at times about my area. With that being said, I also have competitors who are actually on this board who are in my area. I don't want to encourage anymore to start. That and many lurkers here, boxes will get tighter. With all the new CRHers, why do you think I end up with new coin boxes all the time? The truth is if everyone engaged in this hobby, this hobby would be over real quick.

I really don't want to know how many coins I search to get what few things I do find. I did keep a record back in 2009 just to see. I searched 2.67 million cents to pull 9800 wheat cents and 22 Indian head cents. I searched 1.05 million dimes to pull just over 1,000 silver dimes. Didn't get many half dollars that year.
