When did Canada stop minting silver dimes?

I came across a 1987 Canadian Dime that looks silver. Is It?

"the Canadian dime is magnetic due to a distinct metal composition: from 1968-99 it was composed entirely of nickel, and since 2000 it has had a high steel content."

up untill part of 1967 canadian dimes were 80% silver , for part of 1967 untill part of 1968 canadian dimes were 50% silver. The same is true for canadian quarters. Canadian halves and dollars were 80% silver untill all of 1967.

Re: When did Canada stop minting silver dimes?

I rarely find Canadian coins, but I have always wondered how to tell if a 1967 dime or quarter is 80% or 50%. Do they weigh differently?

They can't be told apart and are treated as a 65%er when it comes to buying and selling.

How close are you to the border? I think Canadian dollar is worth more than US right now?
