Something odd about a roll of 1979 halves

I got a few roles yesterday to search, nothing silver. But then I opened a roll of all 1979's that are different. I can't tell if they are gold plated or toned in a gold color, but they are defiantly not silver. I attached a picture of one next to a 40% so you can see the difference. The gold is evenly spread over the entire coin, even the edges. Let me know what you think.

a different background might show it better, maybe white?

If you can clearly see the copper cladding on the side, it is toning. If you can't, then it is probably plating.
