1 90%er, and it almost looks like you've got a clad proof mixed in 2 coins to the right from the 90%er. THough it could just be the camera playing tricks.

Thats what I was thinking. That silver rim looks too silvery. It could just be the pic, but I would guess that its plated or painted.

I had a franklin come out that silver on the rim... so i bet it will be a nice clean 64' or below...

If you look closely, you can see a thin brown line running down the edge of the questionable half. I'm also willing to bet that it's plated.

...No silver!! Suspect half is a 1973....not plated....I can see a thin copper line if I use a magnifying glass. 11.2 grams....not plated.....first one of these I've seen.

I have seen one or two like that. Turn them around and you may see some copper. The manufacturing process/quality control was not as good in the 70s methinks. Cameras also screw with copper tones, as does room lighting.

It's just the plating wearing off, nothing to do with the US mint.

The plating probably won't significantly increase the weight of the coin.
