In straight silver value alone

ATB set: 25 oz

1oz in 40% = $3.15 (9/4 * 1.4)

$3.15 x 25 = $78.75 x 2 = 157.5 (round up)

So it would take 158 40% half dollars to equal 25.00 ounces of silver. That's just for silver value alone.

Well lets look at it this way. each 40% half contains .14792 oz. silver x 170 coins = 25.1464 ouonces. This is compared ounces to ounces. Good luck. I would make that trade every time for sure. Might even kick in a few extra.. ;D

I have a set coming from Apmex, looking forward to it. I wouldn't trade it straight up for 40% though... they always go below melt, plus the ATB 25oz set has some numismatic value attached to it (even though it is bullion)

I'd say your best bet is to look at the prices they've sold for on ebay, then discount your 40% by... maybe 10% of melt and go with that number. (I would go more than 10% discount, but trading outside of ebay lets you avoid $100 in fees)

Looks like ATB 5 oz set of 5 is closing for around $1500 (give or take) so I'd go with 286 40%ers (5.83 spot * 286 * .9 discount)
