As some here may know, I was suffering since last saturday morning with a kidney stone. My CRH'ing suffered greatly as I just did not feel like going out on road trips much. I did manage to get some boxes and bags to keep me busy though. Some of what was found has already been posted, but I saved the best for last. After finally passing that darned kidney stone friday morning, I felt well enough to make a trip. Not a grand road trip with lots of bank stops, just a welfare check on a friend in RingGold GA to see how things are coming along with the cleanup there since the tornado trashed that area. I did stop in at a few banks afterward on my way out of town. Managed to find 3 CWR's at one bank and $330 in someones dumps at another. The 3 CWR's held some NIFCs and the $330 in dumps held 3 40%'ers. I still wasn't feeling up to a full-fledged road trip.

Last saturday morning the widow called and asked me to meet her at the bank. We met and she offered me what she thought was the last of her late hubbys collection. There were 6 WL's, 9 Bens, 60 Roosies in 2 pages of 2X2 holders, and a roll of dimes. I did a quick edge search of the roll of dimes and it was solid silver! I worked out the values and gave her full spot for it. I knew she really needed the money, and she was really happy to get so much for it. She said she'll call if she finds any more of his coins.

Thank you, I try to do as much good as I can these days. I can only pray that it helps to make up for some of the bad caused by military and other governmental abuses of advanced technologies that I worked on and researched for Uncle Sam in my youth.

I've been in her shoes, having to live off of nothing more than a single social security income for a while, right after my wife passed. I'm now getting a little bit of royalties from the sales of products that I invented, so I was able to pay her spot. I knew she really needed the money, or she would not have been able to part with these coins that her and her late husband had valued so much. I still have not brought myself to the point where I can part with wifeys things that I have no use for, and she's been gone for over a year and a half.

This.

I've always wondered what I'd do if I found myself in a similar situation. You've set the bar pretty high; thanks for that.

Glad you passed the stone too!

Good job! Very impressive. Guard those 1955 Rosies, they were the toughest for me.

Paying her spot for the silver...your a good man, Charlie Brown.

Too many unscrupulous people would've ripped her off, and you probably could've bargained her down, and the fact that you didn't try either of those things speaks well of you (and the fact that several of us have said it means that such behavior is no longer normal, sadly for our nation). Glad to hear you passed your stone - my brother had that a number of years ago, and he was in agony. HH!
