I finally got one of those stories that I have been dreaming of to tell. I walked into the bank today ( to get my halfs which gave me one 40%er) and the teller told me that a guy brought in two rolls of silver quarters in yesterday. There policy is to run it through the machine and it ends up in a big bag with the other coins. Much to my surprise, they got the bag out of the machine and spent over 15 minutes retrieving silver quarters for me! WOW! I ended up with 51 of them including 3 standing liberties (one had the 2 and 6 visible and the others were no dates). Here is the list of what I got with some pics! :) :) :)

Standing Liberty Quarters
1926: 1
No Date: 2

Wow! Timing and luck were on your side today kalpinro! I'm putting your '26 on the "Oldest of the Year" list since it's the first Standing Liberty with a readable date.

Congrats on a find that we all dream about too!

Actually, you can truthfully say that you have found a Standing Liberty between 1916 to 1924......one of the dateless ones is what is called a pedestal date and not a recessed date.....sorry, I'm a coin junkie.....

Just thought of this kalpinro. Check the reverse of the dateless one on the lower left in your 2nd picture. Make sure there are three stars under the eagle. If there are no stars than you've got a 1916 or 1917.

I am happy to get what I got. :) I did not want to push it and ask them to keep searching... As far as the stars. All of them had stars under the Eagle.

I wouldn't wait till christmas to send a card. I'd take them a small plant or box of candy now to show your appriciation. Don't cost much but they'll love you for it.

In addition to sending them a card, send their bank manager a letter saying how friendly and helpful those tellers are. Don't get specific and don't mention the silver, she may get jealous and may want to start collecting the silver for herself.
